As a child I hated spelling, maths and all the usual things but I was obsessed with spelling the word antidisestablishmentarianism now I know most of you will probably be looking at me like im crazy and the word thinking wtf does that spell? Let me break it down to you anti-dis-establishment-arian-ism what does it mean? Well as you can probably guess its some who is anti the establishment technically the definition of establishment in this case is in fact the Church of England. I prided myself in being able to spell it especially as it was one of the longest words in the dictionary.
Incidentally hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is a cruel word – the definition of which is a fear of long words, I think someone might have a dark sense of humour somewhere when they were naming that one. For those thinking that its a joke, its not, ever been scared of spelling in front of a class? Ever been mocked for spelling something incorrectly? Well in some cases this can lead to phobias and it should be treated with the same respect as any other phobia. There are plenty of treatments including CBT and speech therapy which can assist anyone who might be suffering.
Finally one of my other absolute favourites is lethologica – something I suffer from on a regular basis! Now what was that word….
